my best friend ELF weekend in dc

You may be asking "What exactly is this ELF in DC weekend you were instagraming, Sarah?" Well I shall tell you! You know when Buddy calls his dad and has a whole list of things to do?

"Ahhhhhhh now I know what you're talking about!" You're saying. I knew I only had one weekend in DC before going home for a well deserved Christmas holiday, so my very best friend that I've known since middle school came up to visit and we did a DC Christmas ELF in the city weekend. So we didn't make snow angels, eat a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough, or snuggle we did live life the Buddy way. 

We saw some Christmas trees...

 I refuse to show the White House tree because it was even more pathetic than the Capitol tree.

We saw some statues with buildings all decorated.

And finally....saw Santa on the Mall before getting on the metro. 

I think Buddy would have been proud.

gardening in the city: the national sculpture garden

I'm about to reveal a very big secret...can you handle it? The National Sculpture Garden has the best fountain in the world. 

I know, that's a pretty hefty claim, and I've seen some great fountains in the world including the "magical" Trevi fountain in Rome. But I'm telling you, hands down, this is the best. I'm at least staking the claim that it's my favorite fountain/spot in the whole of DC. 

Every time I tell my friends I want to take them to my favorite fountain, I see the look of, "Yeah, okay sure why not" in their eyes. But then, we get there and pop our feet in the water and I see the look change into, "You are totally right about this." 

Sure, you're probably now wondering where the art is, since it is called the sculpture garden. Well, ask and you shall receive.

Just promise me one thing: don't hog all the room at the fountain when I come by next time to soak my feet now that you know about this semi-hidden gem, okay?
